Research Interests

Dr. Winter is a clinical epidemiologist and assistant professor in the Division of Public Health Sciences. During her work as a physician, Dr. Winter developed a strong interest for population-based research and preventive medicine, and subsequently obtained additional training in clinical epidemiology. 

Dr. Winter’s previous work focused on: 
i) Evaluating risk factors, particularly lifestyle factors and traditional cardiovascular disease risk factors, for neurological diseases. 
ii) Exploring the relationship between neurological diseases, cardiovascular disease and cancer using data from large population-based studies. 

Dr. Winter’s current interest is to establish an independent clinical and outcomes research program within the Division of Public Health Sciences in collaboration with the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Surgery.
