2022 St. Louis Shock Symposium

Register to attend the St. Louis Shock Symposium on October 29-30, 2022.  Featuring leading experts in the field of cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, anesthesia, perfusion and intensive care, this in-person conference will focus on cutting edge therapies to advance the knowledge of cardiogenic shock, left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), heart transplant and COVID-19 related severe acute respiratory distress syndrome along with pulmonary embolism and the role of the PE Response Team.

The St. Louis Shock Symposium offers an opportunity to learn from leading experts in the fields of cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, anesthesia, perfusion and intensive care.  Led by Washington University cardiothoracic surgeon, Muhammad Faraz Masood, along with co-directors, Amit Pawale, Amanda Verma, Justin Vader, Kunal Kotkar, Joel Schilling, Amela Turnadzic, Elaine Thomas Horton and Mary Sullivan, the event will include presentations from Washington University physicians as well as regional and national invited faculty.  The topics will include evidence-based talks, case presentations, and debates with experts regarding extra corporeal life support (ECLS) and ventilator management, heart transplant, LVADs. We will also discuss best practices of bedside care in ECLS, transplantation and LVADs, and the development and programmatic management of the shock team, PERT teams and the ECMO program. 

Patients with critical cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure, and severe acute respiratory distress syndrome are critically ill. These patients require rapid identification of stages of shock, heart and respiratory failure. The St. Louis Shock Symposium will address, discuss and inform on the traditional and advanced modalities applied to arrest and possibly reverse clinical deterioration.

The St. Louis Shock Symposium will be held October 29-30, 2022, at the Chase Park Plaza Royal Sonesta Hotel in St. Louis, MO.  Limited in-person attendance will be available in accordance with all guidelines outlined by the CDC and Missouri Department of Health.
