Shannon Kotch, MD, a trauma surgery expert, joined the Section of Acute and Critical Care Surgery as a Clinical Instructor.
Kotch is certified to provide surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery. She is also a certified Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) instructor.
Kotch earned her medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine in 2014. She completed general surgery residency training and surgical critical care fellowship at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
During her residency, Kotch also completed a thoracic surgery research fellowship at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She maintains an interest in quality, safety, and outcomes research, as well as in hemorrhage and sepsis resuscitation.
“I am looking forward to the acuity and variety of surgical patients that entrust their care to WashU,” Kotch said. “The hospital is an outstanding resource for the community, and I am excited to be able to care for those in the community and beyond. I appreciate the opportunity to learn from my patients and fellow faculty.”
