Meet Dr. Snyder 

Dr. Jason Snyder is a general surgeon specializing in emergency general surgery, trauma surgery, and surgical critical care.

He is an associate professor of surgery at Washington University School of Medicine and director of emergency general surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Snyder is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and serves as vice chair of the Missouri Committee on Trauma.

Dr. Snyder’s clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of general surgery, including complex elective and emergency operations. His expertise includes laparoscopic and open abdominal surgery, endoscopy, reoperative surgery, and the management of traumatic injury. He performs a wide range of procedures including hernia repair, colostomy reversal, enterocutaneous fistula takedown, hidradenitis surgery, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, operations for bowel obstruction, damage control laparotomy, and surgical management of necrotizing soft tissue infections.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Snyder has leadership experience in program development, protocol implementation, and quality improvement in acute care surgery. He is actively involved in postgraduate surgical education and serves as associate program director for the general surgery residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. His academic interests include system development, quality improvement in general surgery, and surgical education.

Dr. Snyder earned his medical degree from the Marshall University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and a fellowship in trauma and surgical critical care at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
