Meet Dr. Mahajan
Dr. Nupam Mahajan is a scientist and director of urologic research for the Department of Surgery.
His lab focuses on the exploration of various epigenetic processes to identify precise signaling events that take place in cancer cells, either during oncogenesis or upon exposure to various chemotherapeutic agents, including immune therapies.
Dr. Mahajan earned his doctorate in RNA virus research from Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India. He completed a prostate cancer research fellowship at Lineberger Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina.
Our team of scientists explores various epigenetic processes to identify precise signaling events that take place in cancer cells. Our work aims to impact treatment for prostate cancer and change how we look at cancer in general. Our inhibitors targeting ACK1 and WEE1 kinases have been highly promising in overcoming drug-resistant prostate and breast cancers
