Siteman Cancer Center is home to a nationally recognized multidisciplinary team of Washington University physicians offering cancer treatments not available elsewhere in the region. Siteman is also home to more than 500 clinical trials, giving patients access to the most innovative therapies in the country. At Siteman, clinical expertise in diagnostic imaging comes from the acclaimed faculty of Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, an international leader in the imaging of cancer and other diseases and disorders.

Siteman’s nationally recognized Washington University surgeons utilize the latest minimally invasive techniques, including robot-assisted technology. Robotic surgery allows doctors to perform complex procedures with more precision, flexibility, and control than is possible with conventional techniques. Siteman is one of the few facilities in the country with a dedicated chest surgery unit, treating the most difficult cases. Siteman surgeons were the first in the region to perform laparoscopic colectomy for colon cancer. Siteman oncologists are national leaders in pioneering immunotherapies, targeted treatments, and other innovative medical therapies. Together their multidisciplinary teams offer patients the most advanced personalized treatment options available in the country.

In 2020, Siteman earned the highest possible rating—exceptional—by the National Cancer Institute, as part of a rigorous, peer-reviewed five-year evaluation of Siteman’s research programs.
