Dawood joins Division of Urologic Surgery

Omar Dawood, MD, joins the Division of Urologic Surgery as an assistant professor of surgery.

“I’m very excited for Dr. Dawood to start his career at WashU Medicine,” said Michael Johnson, MD, director of the Division of Urologic Surgery. “He brings with him a great technical skillset, but also a great team mentality and compassion for patients. It was obvious when we first recruited him that he met the WashU standards! I anticipate that patients and providers will love interacting with him for all general urology matters.”

Dawood earned his medical degree at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, IL. He completed a urological surgery residency at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans.

“Growing up in the Midwest, I have long admired WashU Medicine for its excellence and innovation in patient care, research, and education,” Dawood said. “I am excited to bring the experiences I’ve gained from the great city of New Orleans to St. Louis — a city with such a strong sense of community — and to provide patient-centered care with the highest standards of compassion and excellence.”

Dawood will see patients at locations across the St. Louis region, including Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, and Missouri Baptist Medical Center.

The Department of Surgery welcomes Omar Dawood, MD, to the Division of Urologic Surgery.
