Two projects with principal investigators from the Department of Surgery will receive support from the Digital Transformation Research Corps this summer.
One project, led by Rachel Anolik, MD, and Ruth Tevlin, MD, from the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, aims to develop an AI-guided system to enhance the standard of care for rehabilitation of patients with facial paralysis and other neuromuscular conditions.
Another project, with multidisciplinary principal investigators including Erin Linnenbringer, MS, PhD, from the Division of Public Health Sciences, aims to create a digital dashboard that visualizes cancer susceptibility data for the Coldwater Creek community.

Digital Transformation Summer Corps
The Digital Transformation Summer Corps is a paid, 10-week program that invites students with skills in software development and data science to work alongside faculty to accelerate digitally-enabled research projects at WashU.
Students in the program gain hands-on experience working on high-impact initiatives, while faculty benefit from dedicated technical expertise to advance their work. Through mentorship, collaboration, and rigorous training in best practices for AI, machine learning, and computational research, the program fosters a dynamic community of innovation.
The Digital Transformation Summer Corps advances faculty research, trains a community of students and researchers in digital and AI-driven approaches to research, and delivers tangible outcomes that drive future funding and scholarly advancement.
